Die höchste Stufe von Gleichmut (Vairāgya) entsteht durch die Erfahrung des wahren Selbst (Puruṣa). Dadurch verlieren selbst die Grundeigenschaften der Natur ihre Macht.

tat = dessen, das
paraṁ = höchste
puruṣa = das wahre Selbst, das unwandelbare Selbst. synonym mit Drashtu. wörtlich: der Bewohner.
khyāti = Verständnis, Verwirklichung, Bewusstheit, Erfahrung
guṇa = die drei Grundeigenschaft der Natur
vaitr̥ṣṇyam = sind durstlos (nicht triebhaft)

Erklärung: Wird Gleichmut nachhaltig gepflegt, wird der unsterbliche Kern unseres Selbst erkannt.
