Ist das meinende Selbst (Citta) zerstreut, so entsteht leidvolle Enge, Depression, Nervosität und der Verlust der Kontrolle über den Atem (und damit über die Psyche).

duḥkha = Wörtlich: Das was den inneren Raum verengt, Schmerz, Leiden, Druck
daurmanasya = Trübsinn, Traurigkeit, Depression
aṅga = Glieder, Körper
ejayatva = Unruhe,
aṅgamejayatva = Nervosität
śvāsa-praśvāsaḥ = Ein- und Ausatmung, unruhige Atmung, verlust der Kontrolle über den Atem
vikṣepa = Zerstreuung, Unruhe
sahabhuvaḥ = Begleiterscheinungen, Symptome

Erklärung: Wenn Hindernisse gedeihen, entsteht ein innerer Druck, welche allmählich das Fühlen und Denken trübt, den Körper verspannt, und den Atem aus dem Gleichgewicht bringt.
